Woodstock Night Market Returns
WOODSTOCK — After a successful opening in 2022, The Woodstock Night Market will return Tuesday evenings to its new location on King Street, between August 8 and September 12.
Hosted by the Greater Woodstock Chamber of Commerce, the night market highlights local artisans, farm producers, and food vendors. The chamber’s president, Susan Habold says the waterfront location on King Street will allow for more foot traffic and vendors.
“We started the market on Queen Street because it was a one-way street and easy to close off, but it had minimal visibility. Now it will be on King Street with more space, along the Meduxnekeag River where it meets the Saint John River- an iconic location for Woodstock residents. We’re going to have around four times the vendors we had last year, including ones that we previously had a hard time securing because the market had been planned in a matter of weeks,” Habold explains.
The new location is near the popular Woodstock Farmer’s Market, which is open six days a week and will have extended hours on Tuesdays to coincide with the night market. Additionally, it will serve as a venue for local musicians, with live music being a hit amongst customers the previous year.
“We’ve got some of our favourites from last year performing again but we’ve also got new musicians coming, which is what people have been asking for. The music will be set up under a big maple tree; it’s a beautiful spot,” Habold says.
The night market features a variety of artisans including jewellers and potters, as well as local producers that sell fresh vegetables and plants. Food trucks and snack tables will also be on-site for visitors looking for a bite to eat. Those returning to browse the market can expect to see familiar faces from the previous year.
“One of our favourite vendors last year was Back Acre Farm, they’re a young couple with a pesticide-free vegetable farm and they also sell cut flowers. They were a hit and they’re going to be with us again every week this summer.”
Habold says the Woodstock Night Market is more than just a place to shop and serves as an event where the community can come together.
“Residents are so happy to have a place that is lively during a weekday evening. They can get out and chat with people they haven’t seen in a while, it’s a neat way for the community to socialize. People love the atmosphere and it’s a lot of fun.”
