Moncton Clothing Boutique Moving To Tannery Place This Fall
MONCTON — As it gears up to mark its 10-year anniversary this fall, a popular Moncton clothing boutique is trading its current space in the north end for a larger storefront in the city’s downtown.
Klozet Clothing Boutique will relocate this fall to a new location in Tannery Place.
Janique Brun, owner of the Moncton clothing store, said in an interview with Huddle the main reason for the move is because of the growth her business has seen over the last 10 years. She said the new location is more than double the size of her current storefront.
“We’ve needed the space for quite a little while now, so we’re looking forward to just having a bigger storage room for online stock and a bigger floor plan as well,” she said. “We’re expanding our men’s section, so we’ll have more room for the men’s section, as well as the women’s section, and offering some new brands for both.”
Brun said an expansion had been on her mind for the last five years, but it began to gain traction over the last two years. When she found the location inside Tannery Place one year ago, she said it came as a big relief.
She also feels that other businesses nearby will complement what her store has to offer.
The move is happening just in time for Klozet Clothing Boutique’s 10-year anniversary. The 23-year-old entrepreneur opened in 2013 to fulfill her long-time dream of owning a clothing store.
“When I first opened the store, I didn’t know what way it was going to go, or what brands I would carry,” said Brun. “And then within the first month, I had sold half of my inventory, so I realized quickly that it was going to be a big hit in the city.”
Over the last 10 years, Klozet Clothing Boutique has experimented with different brands and even launched an online shopping platform, something Brun said helped her business significantly during the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We were able to grow our online business because of [the pandemic], but I definitely missed the in-person styling and experience,” she said, noting that most of her sales during the pandemic centred around loungewear.
“It’s nice to have people feel comfortable enough to come in and see the smile on their faces … we get to make people feel good about themselves, so I love that part.”
Looking ahead to the future, Brun said she hopes Klozet Clothing Boutique keeps growing, both with its online presence and its in-store experience. Having the larger retail space will allow for better management of that, she said.
Her “ultimate goal,” however, would be to operate multiple locations. And then you never know there might be another location at some point.
As she looks back over the past decade, Brun said her company’s fan base has remained loyal. She feels thankful for that.
“I still have clients that were here on day one who were here last week,” she said. “It’s truly with the community support over the last 10 years that we’ve made it here … and allowed us to grow.”
