WestJet Drops Moncton Flights
MONCTON — WestJet has confirmed that, as of April 30, 2023, it will no longer offer flights between Toronto and the Greater Moncton Romeo LeBlanc International Airport.
“As WestJet furthers its commitments to our new strategic direction, we continue to adjust our schedule to focus on enhanced non-stop connectivity from Eastern to Western Canada, and sun and leisure destinations,” company spokesperson Denise Kenny says,
The company says its Encore flights between Moncton and Toronto are being removed from its schedule. Flights between now and April 29 will not be affected.
“We have provided our guests with as much advance notice as possible either directly, or through their travel agent. Impacted guests will be provided with the option of arranging alternative travel arrangements or a refund to their original form of payment,” Kenny said
Earlier this year, the airline also cancelled planned flights between Halifax and several European destinations. At the time, the company said it hoped to “recover its network in response to capacity constraints impacting the aviation ecosystem.”

However, the company also recently announced new, non-stop service from Moncton to both Calgary and Edmonton. Those flights will begin this summer.
Since last summer, WestJet has been following through on plans to focus more on western Canada at the cost of some of its eastern-Canadian operations.
