The Shake Shed Freddy Open Under New Ownership
FREDERICTON – Three months after The Shake Shed Freddy announced its pending closure, the business is open under new ownership.
After finding out that the milkshare business was for sale, Jignesh and Nrupal Patel decided to take action. In January, they bought it.
Vishna Patel, daughter of Jignesh and Nrupal, spoke with Huddle about the family taking over the business and what they plan to do with it.
After moving to Fredericton in 2019, The Shake Shed Freddy has become a memorable place for the Patel family.
“We used to go there often, so we were kind of sad that it was closing. But we also heard that there was an opportunity to buy it,” she says. “My parents were very excited to look into that option.”
Vishna says her family has always considered the idea of running their business. When they heard news of this opportunity, they thought it was the perfect chance to get started as first-time business owners.
On January 8th, 2023, the Patel family made an official announcement about the new ownership. The post included their winter hours and an exciting announcement stating that The Shake Shed Freddy will no longer be closing.

When asked what they envision for the future of the business, Vishna told Huddle that the family plans to keep The Shake Shed Freddy as the same business that the community knows and loves. They will, however, be bringing back some old favourites.
“There won’t be any major changes or anything” she says. “The only thing that we might bring back was that The Shake Shed used to have features so we’re probably going to roll those out soon.”
Vishna says that although this is all that will be happening in the near future, they do plan to bring new ideas to the business eventually.
The Patel family is excited to start their journey with The Shake Shed Freddy.
