Bertossi Group To Open Second ‘Pane E Circo’ On Spring Garden
HALIFAX—Only a few months after opening in downtown Halifax, The Bertossi Group’s retail shop is expanding to Spring Garden Road.
The company, known for popular Halifax restaurants like The Bicycle Thief and La Frasca, says it is opening a second location of its “Italian Salumeria,” Pane e Circo, in the spring.
Pane e Circo stocks a selection of “high-quality” foods, including an array of imported salami and cheeses, artisanal bread, and croissants.
The first location opened in October at Bishop’s Landing.
According to an Instagram post, the second Pane e Circo will also serve espresso and “a wide array of our house-made gelati and sorbetti.”

The Bertossi Group is helmed by Hakan Uluer. Uluer (once the manager of the Bicycle Thief) and Dean Leland bought the business from longtime owners Stephanie and Maurizio Bertossi in 2014. In 2018, Uluer took over as the sole owner.
The company’s portfolio consists of four Italian-inspired restaurants in Halifax: The Bicycle Thief, Ristorante a Mano, La Frasca, and il Mercato Trattoria.
The company is also opening to open a major restaurant on the Halifax waterfront in 2023.
Last January, Uluer told Huddle the yet-to-be-named eatery will occupy a 7,000-square-foot space in Southwest Properties’ Cunard building.
