Freight Train Derailed Outside Moncton
MONCTON – A freight train derailed about 30 miles west of Moncton on Saturday, according to a spokesperson for CN.
A total of 30 cars derailed including 20 that fell onto their side.
Tiffany Edwards, Manager of Public and Government Affairs says the crew has begun cleaning the scene.
“At this time, it’s still too soon to evaluate how long the clean-up process will take.”
Edwards added that the incident did not involve any injuries, fire or dangerous goods.
As a result of the derailment, train traffic has been rerouted to the Newcastle line.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
