Pump House Brewery In Moncton Gets New Owners
MONCTON – After 21 years at the helm, Shaun and Lilia Fraser are stepping back from Pump House Brewery, the popular local brewer that now ships products across Canada and the U.S.
Long-time friends Brad Devarennes, Kolin Barley and Brian Harriman will be the company’s new owners.
The couple shared the “bittersweet news” on the company’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
“We have decided to pass the torch of the company and brand we have built to some great new owners,” they said in the post. “When we opened the Pump House in 1999, we hoped to give it a good 10 year run. Twenty-one years later, we are so grateful to have had so many more years together with you than we could have imagined.”
The new owners are local businessmen who are fans of the brewery, and share the Frasers’ values of love for community and passion for “making great beer,” they said.
The Frasers wrote a heartfelt thank you to patrons and staff in the post.
“Thank you to every single person who has worked for us, past and present. Those of you who have helped make the Pump House such a treasured brand and one that is known and loved right across Canada!” they said.
“Thank you to all of you, our customers, our fans, our friends. Your support for the past 21 years has made everything we do so much more meaningful and important. You are the reason we built this company. You have meant everything to us. Thank you.”
The Pump House Brewpub opened in downtown Moncton on September, 1999, with their Cadian Cream Ale, Fire Chief’s Red Ale, Muddy River Stout and Pail Ale being the first beers on tap. All of those beers, in addition to their Blueberry Ale, are all still very popular today.
In 2002, they opened a brewing and bottling plant outside the city centre to meet demand.
Pump House also has a taproom and fill station on Mill Rd. that opened in 2017.
Currently, the brewery’s beer can be found across Canada and in parts of the U.S.
