After more than two months of searching for a spot to rebuild after a fire destroyed his old location, David Nicholson is almost ready to open the new Sydelle’s.
Alice Clark had been a regular at Sydelle’s Fish and Chips since it opened a decade ago. She got hooked by the fresh-tasting fish and friendly service provided by the owner, David Nicholson.
David Nicholson was emotional on Wednesday morning as he toured the inside of his burned-out restaurant he believes was an act of arson. For 10 years, Sydelle’s was one of the most popular fish and chips restaurants in the Halifax area.
“They lit the dumpsters on fire, then they went down to the basement, which is a separate exit…and they lit napkins on fire on an old pile of insulation that was in the basement,” explained Nicholson.
A very popular Bedford fish and chips restaurant, Sydelle’s, caught fire Tuesday afternoon and firefighters were still battling the blaze nearly an hour later.
It was a very brief appearance with the case adjourned again until April 15.
A massive Irving refinery blast shook the port city Monday but it caused only four minor injuries.
