Pür & Simple Will Open Dieppe, Edmundston And Saint John Locations This Year
Breakfast chain Pür & Simple is continuing to expand in Atlantic Canada with plans to open a restaurant in Dieppe’s Champlain Place in April and another one on 30 Church Street in Edmundston in June. A location in Saint John is also set to open in May.
The Saint John location on 70 Consumers Drive was supposed to open this month, but construction delays pushed the date to May.
“Right now we’re really happy with the expansions,” said Christian Martin, the restaurant chain’s area developer for Atlantic Canada. “The response is very good from possible franchise partners and from customers as well. People love our product, they love our concept and so far, they’re very happy with the response.”
Martin said the Dieppe location, which will be accessible from inside and outside the mall, has “very high visibility.” And it helps that TD’s Corporate Offices recently opened at the former Sears location. The building, which was constructed for around 1,000 TD employees, has a door that connects it directly to Champlain Place.
Martin said this is “obviously” interesting to tap into for Pür and Simple, but even without the offices, Pür & Simple has had its eyes on Champlain Place for some time.
Based in Laval, QC, Pür & Simple opened its first Atlantic Canadian location in Moncton last March. The company has since continued selling franchises in the region, with an aim to have 10 locations opened this year. It’s also been selling franchises in other parts of Eastern Canada, opening its first Ontario restaurant in Burlington this month and some in Quebec in the last year.
Pür & Simple had plans for a Miramichi location as well, but that’s scrapped for now.
“In Miramichi, we lost the franchise partner that we had because we didn’t have any site for them,” Martin said. “We’re not in the business of opening a restaurant and then closing it just because we have a bad site. So, we might as well wait,” Martin said.
He’s continuing to look for franchisees in Fredericton, while “we have somebody that’s very interested” in Bathurst. A deal for a location in Dartmouth, N.S., is set to be signed this week.
The chain serves a breakfast and lunch menu that competes with restaurants like Cora. For breakfast, Pür & Simple offers items like serve french toast, omelettes, breakfast burritos and eggs benedict, among others.
Burgers, sandwiches, salads and entrees like fish and chips are on the menu for lunch. It also offers smoothies, specialty coffees and fruit juices. The chain recently added alcoholic options like mimosas, Bailey’s in coffee, wines and local beers to its beverage menu.
