Pür & Simple Will Give Saint Johners Another Option For Brunch
SAINT JOHN – Port City residents will soon have a new place for brunch. Quebec-based breakfast and lunch restaurant Pür & Simple is continuing its Atlantic Canadian expansion with a location in East Saint John planned to open in February 2019.
This will be the brand’s second location in the region after opening a franchise in Moncton in March. The 4,100-square-foot Saint John restaurant will be on 70 Consumers Drive, next to Walmart.
Christian Martin, the company’s area developer for Atlantic Canada, said the Moncton location has shown the market’s appetite for Pür & Simple in the region.
“Moncton is doing very good numbers. The customers like what we offer,” he said.
In Saint John, customers’ have been just as excited, Martin said.
“We just advertised saying that it’s coming. And people’s reaction is very good. I think people are ready in Saint John for Pür & Simple and we obviously think that it’s going to do very well.”
Pür & Simple competes with popular breakfast chain Cora. For breakfast, Pür & Simple serves french toast, omelettes and eggs benedict, among others. While burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads and entrees like chicken skillet will be on the menu for lunch. It also offers smoothies, specialty coffees and fruit juices, as well as various gluten-free options.
It recently added alcoholic options like mimosas, Bailey’s in coffee, wines and local beers at its Moncton location. It will do the same in Saint John.
“We usually try to buy local beer so, like, in Saint John, for example, we can offer Saint Johners their local beer at our Pür & Simple.”
The Saint John location will likely have 20 full-time and part-time staff, Martin said.
The company has been franchising for more than a year. In Atlantic Canada, it aims to have 10 locations in 2019.
“Right now, Edmundston is sold. Edmunston’s probably going to open in May of 2019. We also have Dieppe, New Brunswick, sold. That will open roughly at the same time, so, April or May of 2019,” Martin explained.
That will make four Pür & Simple locations in New Brunswick. Martin is also working on two franchise deals in Halifax, one in Miramichi and another one in Bathurst.
“We still have franchises available, like in Fredericton for example, it’s still available,” he said. “And P.E.I. or Newfoundland, those are two provinces that we want to get in, that’s for sure.”
