Mega Development Approved For North Moncton
MONCTON- The City of Moncton has approved a large scale development project near Twin Oaks Drive.
City planner Bill Budd says it’s one of the rapidly growing areas, with a new school and YMCA and that housing is in high demand.
Cordova realty plans to build a total of 8 residential buildings over the next 5 to 10 years.
“They’re proposing six multiple-unit buildings with about 60 to 100 residential units in each building, two of the buildings will also contain mixed-use commercial uses. There’s also two, two-story stacked townhouses with 20 units each,” says Budd.
The city’s approval includes conditions to maintain a seven-metre landscape buffer behind homes on Whisperwood Drive.
Budd says they have requested feedback from residents in the area but are not aware of any objections to the proposed plan.
“We did get some contact from residents and once they saw the buffer a lot of the residents indicated they didn’t have any concerns. Notices were sent out to everybody by mail and there were two sings on both of the two different streets so there’s really no public concerns that we’re aware of,” he says.
The project will provide a total of about 520 residential units.
