EXIT Realty Moncton Donates $30,000 To Food Depot Alimentaire
This story is part of a series called, Business Does Good, stories about Maritime companies contributing time and money to making their communities stronger.
MONCTON – When Parise Cormier of EXIT Realty Moncton had a conversation with Food Depot Alimentaire executive director Chantal Senecal about the charity’s needs in November, she got an idea.
“I came back thinking how can we help? I knew EXIT Realty Corp. International had a program called ‘Spirit of EXIT Dollar for Dollar Matching Program’,” she said in a release.
“I started by thinking, if we could raise $5,000, EXIT Corp. will match the $5,000. Then, I figured I would be brave and ask for $10,000 and take the chance that we could raise $10,000 amongst our agents from December 16 to December 18 at midnight.”
Cormier’s bet paid off. By the afternoon of December 17, the Moncton team had raised $20,000 in less than 33 hours. EXIT Corp. agreed to match it up to $10,000, allowing the Moncton team to write a cheque of $30,000 to Food Depot Alimentaire.
Food Depot Alimentaire serves food banks, community kitchens, after-school programs and other agencies supporting food security across the province.
“We thank the community that has used our services and now it is time to give back! Merry Christmas!” said Cormier.
Senecal said she and her team are grateful for the contribution.
“We are so thankful for the way businesses and organizations in the community have been intentional to give back to those who are struggling and facing additional challenges due to the pandemic,” she said.
“It is encouraging to see the team at EXIT and their organization come together in this way and be able to make such an impact for families and individuals facing food insecurity.”
