Marketswell Solutions Welcomes New Coach Ahead Of Cohort Applications
SAINT JOHN–Marketswell Solutions has doubled the well of expertise it draws on to train senior marketing executives with the introduction of a new Coach: Jon McGinley. McGinley joins just as applications for Marketwell’s second CMO Accelerator Cohort program are about to start rolling in.
“What’s great about Jon is that he has really great depth in areas that I wouldn’t necessarily have, like CRM (customer relations management), marketing automation, and more the brand-side of things from his agency experience,” said Marketswell founder and coach, David Alston.
McGinley has worked for 25 years in senior-level market, consultancy, and corporate environments and most recently worked as a senior partner at the marketing firm CloudKettle.
“He’ll be able to go deeper on certain topics now,” noted Alston.
Alston and McGinley, both former colleagues from web analytics firm Radian6, plan to build a community of Atlantic tech marketing leadership with the rollout of the 2022 Accelerator Cohort.
“I got to see, firsthand, the impact the CMO Accelerator is having and I believe it’s what many startups are looking for. I am thrilled to be advising the next cohort and to help other marketers benefit from my experience,” McGinley said.
Applications for the newest cohort, which will run from mid-February to December 2022, follow the Feb. 4 close of the 2021 cohort.
The 2022 cohort program is built on the success of the previous years, incorporating master classes, off-site team-building, two-on-two update sessions between members and executive sponsors or CEOs, and an expert speaker series.
“The previous cohort alumni are all connected and the new cohort will be connected, having their own group but also be connected with alumni,” said Alston.
“The principle is getting people to spend time together and really get to know one another so they feel comfortable reaching out to one another.”
Mandate
Alston launched Marketswell in August 2020, in a bid to bolster Atlantic Canada’s tech marketing leadership. Its mandate is to “hack” and accelerate growth of junior talent, bringing startups to higher levels of marketing expertise faster, mostly assisting in the B2B and software-as-a-service sectors.
The CMO Accelerator Cohort accelerates the learning process for marketing leaders in startups using applied learning to help member startups become more effective. It works with each member’s weekly marketing goals to help them build a brand and grow a company culture.
“Every week, cohort members bring a set of challenges they want to discuss. We walk through that and use those as teaching moments, and draw on all the different aspects we want to cover. We’re working with them on the problem together, so it’s a bit of an internship, but also like collaborating and co-creating on some stuff,” said Alston.
Last year, Marketswell helped 10 startups – double what Alston expected. He expects to take up 10 startups again this year.
