Fredericton Chamber of Commerce Elects New President
FREDERICTON — The Fredericton Chamber of Commerce has a new president.
Last month, at its annual general meeting, the chamber elected Michael Melvin of McInnes Cooper to its top job. Melvin will sit as president for a one-year stint in 2023-2024, taking over for Jull Stairs of Daye Kelly & Associates.
Stairs will move into the role of past president for a one-year term.
Melvin is a corporate-commercial lawyer and a partner at McInnes Cooper. He served as a consulting mentor in the Chamber’s Business Immigrant Mentorship Program from 2011 to 2019. He also served as a member of Ignite Fredericton’s Start-up Visa Committee and took part in “office hours” at Planet Hatch, giving free legal advice to start-up entrepreneurs.
Melvin is originally from St. John’s, Newfoundland. He studied music before going to law school at The University of New Brunswick. He studied classical guitar performance at Mount Allison University and The San Francisco Conservatory of Music and music history at The University of Arizona.
Melvin has been a chamber board member since 2018. In 2020, the chamber awarded Melvin its President’s Award.

In addition to Melvin and Stairs, the rest of the chamber’s executive committee members for 2023-24 are:
- 1st Vice President – David Shipley, Beauceron Security Inc.;
- Secretary/2nd Vice President – Sara Holyoke, Delta Hotels by Marriott Fredericton;
- Treasurer – Michelle Paquin, Spacek Armstrong & Norrad;
- Executive Member – Dave Milburn, Focal Point Landscape Design and Installation;
- Executive Member – Jordan O’Brien, Porter O’Brien.
New members of its board include:
