8,000-Passenger Cruise Ship Visits Saint John
SAINT JOHN — The population of Saint John’s south end will nearly double on Tuesday with the arrival of a massive cruise ship.
Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas, one of the world’s largest cruise ships, docks at Port Saint John. The ship arrives with about 8,000 people, marking the largest single cruise ship day in the city’s history.
“Port Saint John is proud to welcome back Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas,” Natalie Allaby, cruise development manager at Port Saint John, said in a news release. “The growth of our cruise ship industry is a testament of what we offer as a region and as a province.”
Oasis of the Seas made its inaugural visit to Saint John during the 2022 season, but there were about 1,000 fewer visitors on board.
It was scheduled to arrive in the city around 7 a.m. Tuesday and leave at 6:45 p.m., according to Port Saint John.
This will be the third cruise ship visit for Saint John this season. Seven Seas Navigator, which has a capacity of 530 passengers, will arrive on Sunday.
