Grimross Brewing to Reopen Oromocto Beer Garden for Summer 2023
FREDERICTON – Grimross Brewing Co. will reopen their Oromocto Beer Garden on Friday May 19th. Being open for their second summer, they hope to attract even more people to the community.
Located by the marina at Hazen Park in Oromocto, the Grimross Oromocto Beer Garden provides the community with a variety of brews on-tap, ciders, non-alcoholic options, and a great environment to come and relax.
“We completely renovated the sea can, we gutted it and set it all up to be a mobile bar,” says Jennie Hunter, sales and marketing manager of Grimross Brewing “The Town of Oromocto collaborated with Grimross and provided us with a deck and some picnic tables, and then we rope off an actual beer garden area.”
Hunter says Grimross Brewing is committed to being a community brewery for every community. With the help of the Beer Garden and its mobile tap room, they aim to introduce even more communities to craft beer.
“One of the things that the owner firmly believes in is that there’s a craft beer out there for everyone,” Hunter tells Huddle. “Even if you’re not a beer drinker, we have a very well-rounded variety of products that we can offer to anyone.”
Hunter also says that Grimross Brewing is very committed to sustainability, which is shown through the launch of the Beer Garden in the summer of 2022. The sea can is something in which they had repurposed that would have otherwise gone unused.
Over the summer of 2022, the Grimross Oromocto Beer Garden had served roughly 3000 people. For the summer of 2023, they hope to meet even more people from even more communities.
“[2022 was] a very successful summer, as far as intergrading into the community and having people stop by” say Hunter. “People can bike there, people can walk there, people can drive there, people can even boat right up to the marina and be able to access the Beer Garden.”
Every month or so, the Grimross Oromocto Beer Garden will be switching out their drink options to keep a fresh variety for its community members. Along with this, they are looking into bringing some more entertainment to the Beer Garden.
Hunter says that they are looking into things such as food trucks, games, and more. Currently, they are working on painting the sea can. Grimross has hired a local artist, Kennedy MacKeen from Midas Well Creations, to transform the outside of the sea can, which people can come down and watch while she brings her art to life.
Hunter also says that Grimross Brewing Co. has recently become Fredericton’s first Rainbow Accredited brewery through the CGLCC at Canada’s LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce. After providing proof that they are an inclusive and safer space for all, they were given the accreditation.
“It is very, very important for us as a business that we are an inclusive and safer space, and we now are proud to say that we have been Rainbow Accredited,” says Hunter.
With the summer fast approaching, Grimross Brewing will also be celebrating their 10-year anniversary this coming July. Although they cannot release details on that event just yet, they say it will be fun, and and to keep an eye on both their Facebook and Instagram.
