Propel Announces Gerry Pond Sales Award Finalists
HALIFAX – Propel has announced the finalists for this year’s Gerry Pond Sales Award, which will be given out later this month.
This year, nominees include a recreational sports matching app, a “no frills” grocery shopping platform, a meal planning service, and many others.
“This year’s list of finalists made a clear and resounding commitment to success in sales, particularly in understanding their customer,” Propel CEO, Kathryn Lockhart said in a statement.
Propel established the award in 2019, in recognition of its founder, Gerry Pond. It recognizes one of its Traction and Growth companies that “excel in creating a repeatable and scalable sales process.” It also includes a $25,000 cash prize.
“We celebrate the significance of this event, as it not only gives us the opportunity to honour our founder Gerry Pond but also recognize companies who are bringing smart solutions to market and able to scale, equipped with the knowledge they have gained through the Propel program,” Lockhart said.
Aside from founding Propel, Pond has been intimately involved in Atlantic Canada’s business community as the chairman and co-founder of Mariner Partners and other ICT businesses. Pond has been a leader in supporting startups in the region through Propel, the Pond-Deshpande Centre at the University of New Brunswick, and the venture capital firm East Valley Ventures.
He has also been an active community volunteer with the Upside Foundation and the Business Community Anti-Poverty Initiative (BCAPI) of Saint John.
This year, the award will be handed out on April 17. The online event will feature a keynote presentation from Ryan Porter, the head of product at Career Beacon.
