Renowned Panelists Discuss Anti-Racism Initiatives at First-Ever PRUDE Forum
The Board and staff of PRUDE Inc. are inviting the general public to its first-ever Anti-Racism Forum. The forum will commemorate this year’s International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination.
The event takes place Tuesday, March 21 at the prestigious Saint John Arts Centre, located on 20 Peel Plaza in Saint John. It will start at 11:30 a.m.
This forum intends to create a safe place to discuss, analyze, and evaluate anti-racism initiatives geared towards enhancing a more inclusive society for everyone. Guest speakers include Dr. Manju Varma, Claire Roussel Sullivan, Therese Trofimencoff, Cassandra Henry, and Ivan Okello.
The event will also feature a display of art paintings by nine young artists from De las Artes Art School in Quispamsis, ranging in age from 9 to 16 years old.
The young artists recently collaborated with visual artist Fabiola Martinez to create artwork centered around the themes of diversity, inclusivity, and social justice. With a focus on highlighting the beauty and diversity of different cultures and ethnicities, the young artists drew inspiration from the use of bright and vibrant colors that represent the different hues and tones of skin.
They also incorporated symbols and motifs that reflect various cultural traditions and practices.
The resulting series of artworks serves as a powerful vehicle for promoting positive social change and raising awareness about the importance of unity and equality. It is a testament to the artists’ willingness to explore complex themes and issues, as well as their commitment to using art as a tool for social activism and change.
Join PRUDE as it explores possible opportunities to achieve a more inclusive society that’s welcoming and accessible to all persons.
