Staff Cuts At Acadia Broadcasting
HALIFAX — Acadia Broadcasting, Huddle’s parent company, announced layoffs today impacting 11 staff members. The job cuts are company-wide.
Along with Huddle, Acadia operates 18 licensed radio stations in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Ontario.
Company President Chris Pearson says “the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic since 2020 have been many. Like many others, we have had to adjust our business to the reality we face today.”
Pearson calls today’s news unfortunate but notes Acadia is proud of its record of community engagement and believes the company will continue to entertain, educate, and inform the listeners in the markets it serves.
The layoffs do not affect Huddle’s on-the-ground news operations.
