Meet The Local Designer Shaping Fredericton Businesses’ Interiors
FREDERICTON– Mallory Lennon, the owner and founder of Reimagine Designs, started her interior design company in 2015. Since then, she has designed the interiors of several local Fredericton businesses, like Trailway Brewing, and the previous locations of 11th mile and blonde Hair Salon.
Lennon founded her company after graduating from the Centre for Arts and Technology Fredericton campus, which has since closed. At the time, the school offered a diploma program in interior design.
Her idea to become a business owner came from the lack of opportunity in the design field in the area.
“Sadly, in the Maritimes, there wasn’t really anything on the map back then and it just led me to … open up my own and try things on my own,” said Lennon. “It went from part-time to full-time and was able to build a clientele right away, and was very fortunate.”
When Lennon first started her company, she focused on working on residential projects. Over the last seven years, she has expanded into working with commercial clients as well. Lennon showcases her design work, both residential and commercial, through her online portfolio.
Her firm offers a variety of services, including full-service design, commercial and office space interior design, residential house plans, kitchen and bathroom remodelling, furniture planning, and 3D renderings.
In 2017, Lennon expanded her business into a storefront showroom that highlights a “curated collection” of furniture, lights, rugs, and other furnishings from homes. She opened her showroom after finding through her consulting work that she couldn’t find the furnishings she was looking for locally.
“It just allows me to really curate the selection of what I knew I was looking for and my clients were looking for and we just couldn’t seem to find,” said Lennon.
Lennon is the lead designer of her firm but she has a team that works on both residential and commercial projects with her. Lennon oversees all the decisions and she is the first point of contact her clients go to.
“We really enjoy a collaborative process. Clients are usually after something and oftentimes they don’t know how to pull it all together,” said Lennon. “Chances are, they have a vision that they’re trying to achieve and we just help and sometimes push those boundaries to think outside the box.”
In other cases, Lennon has had clients that have seen her portfolio and follow them on social media and want that aesthetic.
“They trust in the process and allow us to do our thing, which is sometimes always what comes out the best,” said Lennon.
Over the years, Lennon said her team has become more particular with projects. She said she wants the work to be as collaborative as possible with her clients. In some cases, her team has worked with residential home clients for two to three years. Taking the time to build a relationship with her clients is a key aspect of creating something for an area that is personal.
Reimagine Designs has expanded out of New Brunswick this year and worked on new builds on P.E.I. and a spa clinic in British Columbia. Lennon’s company was also recently named one of the top 10 best décor shops in the Maritimes by HGTV.
“We’ve been fortunate that we’ve been able to get our portfolio to where it is,” said Lennon.
