Saint John Port Reaches Agreement With Two Unions
SAINT JOHN–A deal has been reached between Port Saint John and two unions.
On Thursday, the Public Service Alliance of Canada and the Union of Canadian Transportation Employees at the Port voted in favour of a new agreement.
The four-year deal includes substantial wage increases along with increases in allowances and better overtime hours.
Chris Bussy, regional UCTE vice-president for the Atlantic region said they worked closely with this local through the bargaining process.
“UCTE/PSAC members are pleased to have reached an agreement with the employer,” said Bussey. “We believe that this is a step by Port Saint John to recognize the important work that our members do every day that contributes to the overall economy of the community.”
The deal also includes new language on anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, and anti-workplace violence.
Craig Bell Estabrooks is the president and CEO of Port Saint John.
“We are pleased to announce that management and the PSAC/UTCE at Port Saint John have reached a four-year agreement. Both parties are very positive about the outcome and we look forward to working with our unionized employees over the next several years as Port Saint John continues to grow and modernize.”
