Moncton Furniture Store Relocating ‘Outside Of New Brunswick’
MONCTON—A furniture store that opened in Moncton last fall is pulling up the stakes, bound for another province.
Swag Home Furnishings owner and founder Jody Allen confirmed that he’s relocating his business to another province in an email to Huddle.
“We will reopen outside of New Brunswick,” wrote Allen. “That’s all I’m at liberty to say.”
Allen’s decision comes about eight months after he opened Swag Home Furnishings at 691 St. George Boulevard, in a converted warehouse-turned-sales-floor near Centennial Park and Jones Lake, in the city’s west end.

An employee with Atlantic Commercial Properties, Allen’s landlord, also confirmed the furniture retailer’s plans to vacate its 7,000-square-foot berth on St. George.
The employee with Atlantic Commercial, who declined to give their name, added that Atlantic Properties is actively looking for a new tenant.
The employee declined to talk about when Swag’s tenancy would be terminated, or who was interested in the soon-to-be-vacant space, deferring all other questions to Allen.
Allen, originally from Miramichi, opened Swag in October 2021 in a bid to provide stylish, affordable furniture and home accessories to Greater Moncton–after finding little to suit his tastes when furnishing his own home.
Speaking to Huddle shortly before he opened Swag, Allen teased plans to open a second location in another part of Atlantic Canada.
Swag also sold a range of home goods that included sinks, bathtubs, electrical fixtures, and barbecues, selling on a “cash-carry home” furnishing model, only selling what they had in stock.
Shortly before opening in October, Allen told Huddle he sourced most of his wares from Canadian suppliers, noting he planned to source his furniture from a larger supply chain spanning North America.
