‘Holy Bowly’ Opens In Riverview
RIVERVIEW–A new centre for recreation has opened in Riverview.
Just over a year ago, Parklane Bowling Centre was sold to the Holy Whale Brewing Company. Now, President and Co-Owner Jeff Grandy said the bowling alley has reopened under the name Holy Bowly, with a brand new look.
“It’s a lot more open, a lot more colourful,” said Grandy. “The 12 lanes are still there, operational, and functional. All bowling is still intact and [now there’s] just a lot more options.”
“It is a bowling alley and it does attract a broader range of of individuals. Not everybody’s into craft beer, so we added some spirits and a small amount of domestic beer taps. Most of the beer products that are available will be Holy Whale beer, but also there will also be some other alcohols, some liquors, and also other New Brunswick made domestic beer.”
Grandy says reservations were at 90 per cent over the weekend and the centre was also busy throughout the week. Anyone wanting to come to Holy Bowly to use the lanes can now book online.
“We’re going to definitely proceed with leagues and tournaments and whatnot come September. We are even looking to start a spring and summertime league just for fun, as well as beer leagues,” Grandy says.
Grandy also joked about the bowling shoes they inherited when they bought the place.
“They’re vintage and they kind of go well with our theme, the old school bowling shoes. Some of them are pretty old but very functional. We also used them as as kind of an inspiration for our colour scheme and design of the place,” he said.
