Rocky Start For NSLC Home Delivery Service
HALIFAX–The Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation had planned to launch its long-touted home delivery service on February 28. But a spokesperson says technical difficulties have delayed the launch.
The Crown corporation planned to start its online order and delivery portal on Monday, in Halifax and Bridgewater.
NSLC locations across the province had been handing out promotional leaflets early Monday morning that read “Home Delivery Now Available.”
However, the section of NSLC’s website dedicated to the service was difficult to find and did not work properly for many customers.
Beverley Ware, is the communications coordinator for the NSLC. She says that the NSLC hopes to have the service up and running in Halifax and Bridgewater soon.
“We are taking the website down tonight to try and figure some things out and, I don’t want to promise anything, but we are hopeful it will be up this week,” Ware says.
The NSLC chose to start with only two delivery areas so it can test the effectiveness of the program. Ware says once the method is proven the corporation will expand the service to the rest of its mainland locations by the end of the year.
The pamphlets handed out at NSLC stores early Monday morning provide some details on how the service will work.
They say that responsibility is the top priority of the service and customers seeking delivery will be required to show ID to delivery drivers.
A selection of 400 products will be available for delivery. Right now, only alcohol products are listed as eligible for delivery.
Orders of $150 or more will qualify for free delivery, orders less than that will carry a $12 delivery charge.
Orders will be delivered by MBW or Micco couriers and some select areas will be available in some areas.
The NSLC website indicates it will be going offline at 7 p.m. on February 28th for maintenance to its online ordering platform, though the maintenance notice does not make specific mention of its delivery service.
