N.B. Paving and Asphalt Company Extends Eastward
HANWELL–A Fredericton-area paving company is poised to start laying down some asphalt in Greater Moncton after its cross-province expansion.
Sewells Paving announced the expansion of its services to include the Moncton area.
In an email to Huddle, Spokesperson Mariah Smallman said Sewells decided to expand, seeing the opportunity to grow both the commercial and residential sides of the business in the eastern part of the province.
“It’s not too far from our home base in Fredericton and we are really excited to seize this opportunity and see where it leads us,” Smallman said.
To accommodate this growth, Smallman said Sewells opened an asphalt plant in the Moncton region–something that will allow the company to render the same services it does in the Fredericton region.
Smallman said the new plant allows Sewells to work faster in the Moncton region, supplementing the company’s other plant in Hanwell, adjacent to the company’s head office.
The company’s eastward expansion will also potentially bolster Sewells’ staff of 55 with as many as 15 new hires.
Sewells, which launched in 2001, offers commercial and residential paving, driveway and parking lot repairs, basketball and tennis court paving, subdivision paving, and excavation to remove old asphalt or underground foundations and replace them with a new base and pavement.
In addition to work in New Brunswick, Sewell’s has international jobs under its belt in the Caribbean that include the 2009 resurfacing of the Union Island Airport in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and the 2011 paving of an eight-and-half-acre addition to the Canouan Airport.
“Winters can be hard on our roads and spring tends to bring potholes to older existing roads and parking lots, but Sewells is here to help in any way possible,” wrote Smallman.
The family-owned business is adding Greater Moncton to a roster of communities it serves that already includes Fredericton and communities that include Minto, Chipman, Boiestown, Doaktown, Woodstock, and communities in Charlotte County.
In addition to Moncton, Sewells is ready to lay asphalt in communities that include Riverview, Dieppe, Shediac, Salisbury, Sackville, and Bouctouche.
