Air Canada Adds New Flights From Halifax To Vancouver
HALIFAX—A new flight between Halifax and Vancouver is the latest addition to an expanding route map at the Halifax airport.
Starting May 1, Air Canada will offer a non-stop flight between Halifax Stanfield International Airport and Vancouver International Airport.
The flight will run as many as five times a week, leaving Halifax at 9:30 a.m. and arriving in Vancouver shortly after noon, local time. It will return from Vancouver at 10:15 p.m. and arrive in Halifax just before 8 a.m. the next day.
The new Vancouver flight is one of several the airline will add out of Halifax this summer.
Air Canada already offers flights from Halifax to Montreal, Toronto, and Ottawa—as well as destinations in Newfoundland that include Deer Lake, Gander, and St. John’s.
The airline also plans to resume flights from Halifax to Calgary, Goose Bay, and London, England on April 30. It also says it will bring back flights from Halifax to Boston starting June 24.
Mark Galardo, a senior vice president at Air Canada, says the new route was possible in part because Covid-19-related restrictions are easing.
“As border measures are easing and countries are reopening, our customers are ready to travel,” he said in a news release.
Joyce Carter, the president and CEO of the Halifax International Airport Authority, says Air Canada’s announcement comes at a pivotal time in the airport’s recovery.
“This new service is a positive step towards strengthening our domestic connectivity,” she said in a release.
She added that the new flight will also make it more convenient for Atlantic Canadians to connect to destinations like Western North America, Asia, and the South Pacific.
