Peavey Mart Opening First Maritime Location In Bedford
BEDFORD—A well-known Western Canadian hardware and farm supply store will open its first Atlantic Canadian location in Bedford later this year.
Bedford Place Mall announced today that Peavey Mart will soon open its doors in the mall.
Peavey Mart is a Canadian-owned retail chain catering to “those who enjoy a down-to-earth rural lifestyle.” The retailer sells a mix of farm and pet supplies, workwear, hardware, and homesteading supplies.
Based in Red Deer, Alberta, the chain operates 89 stores from B.C. to Ontario. Those include dozens of former TCS stores it bought in 2017 and later rebranded.
Peavey Industries also operates the 107-store Ace Hardware chain.
Bedford Place Mall general manager Judith Thompson said Peavey Mart and the mall are still “working on the logistics” of the chain’s move to the Maritimes and that she can’t provide any more details on the store opening.
However, Jest Sidloski, Peavey Mart’s vice president of marketing, confirmed to Huddle that Peavey Mart’s Bedford location is slated to open in September.
When it does, Sidloski said the store will create about 25 jobs.
“Peavey Mart president and CEO, Doug Anderson, is an opportunist. Doug and the team at Peavey Industries LP (Peavey Mart’s Parent Company) are constantly looking for locations across Canada that make sense for the brand. We know there is a lot of growth opportunity for the Peavey Mart brand,” Sidloski added.
“There will be a lot to learn about how our brand performs in Nova Scotia.”
