Multi-Million-Dollar Factory Will Bring Dozens Of New Jobs To Moncton
MONCTON–An Ontario manufacturer of metal roofing, siding, and other building products is setting up shop in Moncton.
In an interview with Huddle, André Guibord, a spokesperson for Ideal Roofing, confirmed the company plans to open an 80,000-square-foot operating plant in Moncton’s Caledonia Industrial Park.
The project is being built by Moncton-based Newco Construction on a 13-acre lot near the corner of Urquhart and Frenette Avenue.
Construction began this past fall. Guibord estimated that the plant will begin operations in early 2023. The site of the new plant is just down the street from the construction of the upcoming Walmart Distribution Centre.
When complete, the facility is initially expected to create about 20 jobs. The company says staff could eventually grow to 50, or even more, as the operation expands.
Ideal Roofing has a team of 330 people across North America.
Guibord said Ideal Roofing will be looking for engineers, a manager, office personnel, salespeople, distribution and shipping staff, equipment operators, truckers, and tinsmiths.
The company specializes in manufactured roofing materials, siding materials, and other steel components for buildings–especially material used for industrial purposes.
When in operation, the plant will manufacture steel products.
Ideal Roofing also specializes in steel building products, decking, shingles and tiles, trims, and flashings.
Guibord said Ideal Roofing chose Moncton for a new plant because of its proximity to the company’s many customers in Atlantic Canada and six northeastern states south of the border. The closest office the company has to Moncton is its location in Quebec City.
“The company believes it could cut costs for consumers as well as for itself, if it has a location in that market,” said Guibord, noting the new plant will help Ideal Roofing better serve its Atlantic Canadian customers.
Guibord said business has been so brisk in the Maritimes in particular that Ideal Roofing, on average, sees several of its fleet of more than 50 tractor trailers on the road every week, bound for the Maritimes, carrying products from its plants in Ottawa and Brampton.
Although he couldn’t specify, Guibord said sales to the region are in the millions every year.
