UNI Coopération Financière Plans Tannery Place Relocation
MONCTON–UNI Coopération financière plans to move its St. George Street branch to an up-and-coming location in the heart of Moncton.
The branch, currently located at 305 St. George St., will move from its current location to Tannery Place, deeper downtown at 200 Ivan Road Dr., this fall.
Tannery Place, located less than 1.5 kilometres from UNI’s current St. George branch, is a two-tower mixed-use development still under construction at the intersection of Vaughan Harvey Boulevard and Ivan Rand Drive.
UNI communications leader Ginette Hebert told Huddle the relocation is a bid to get closer to city’s business district and modernize a credit union branch that has outgrown its current space.
Hebert said Tannery Place is an ideal location to carry out a digital transformation, for better customer service and office design.
“The St. George Street location is not best suited for this new design, due to its size and our staff having to work on three different floors,” she said.
Tannery Place, spearheaded by Dieppe-based Denis Foulem, a managing partner of DuParc Real Estate, is home to commercial space that houses the Wellness Exchange, Yuzu Sushi, Boutique Intemporelle And Interior Concept Studio, and 42 luxury apartments.
Despite St. George being part of an area in Moncton known for its issues with homelessness and safety concerns, Hebert said the decision to move to Tannery place had nothing to do with that.
“Some St. George Street business owners have had concerns with regards to issues related to homelessness in the area (but) it was not a factor that influenced our decision to move,” said Hebert.
UNI, the largest Acadian-francophone financial institution, opened its first location 85 years ago and serves more than 155,000 members and clients in New Brunswick at 35 business locations.
