Gunman’s Former Dartmouth Clinic Being Torn Down
DARTMOUTH -The former denture clinic in Dartmouth where the man behind one of Canada’s worst mass shootings once practiced is being torn down.
Excavators were on site on Monday morning dismantling the building, at 193 Portland Street.
The former office and residence have been vacant since April 2020, after 22 people were killed in a 13-hour rampage orchestrated by the man who owned the clinic.

The 51-year-old denturist owned the property and was shot and killed by police in Enfield.
The building once had a large smiling mouth but that was taken down shortly after the shootings.
In February of 2021, the building was sold for just over $1.5-million. It was listed by the Public Trustee of Nova Scotia, which manages the estates of certain deceased residents.
The property was advertised as a “prime development opportunity in Downtown Dartmouth… allowing for many possible development opportunities” and was being sold “as-is, where-is.”
Dartmouth design company Bruno Builders is part of the team managing the demolition.
Inquiries into the shootings, and how police handled the situation, are ongoing.
