NB365: Diane Landry Of Complexe D’hébergement Maison Touristique Dugas in Caraquet
This is part of a year-long ‘Love for Local’ series called NB365: portraits of New Brunswick entrepreneurs, businesses, and organizations. Huddle is a media partner with Love for Local. Today we feature Diane Landry of Complexe d’hébergement Maison touristique Dugas, in Caraquet.
The Maison Touristique Dugas opened its doors in 1977 with my mother, Martina Dugas Landry. Her dream of hosting visitors in her family home as a bed and breakfast had been around for quite some time.
The years went by and the business expanded by renovating the old barn to become rooms, suites, and later the bathrooms for the campground. The addition of small cottages and the opening of the campground made the Maison Touristique more than just a bed and breakfast.
The summer of 2021 saw a third generation take over the management of the oldest B&B in Canada. This summer we offered breakfast on the patio and welcomed our neighbours, friends, and family.
The tourism industry has been hit hard over the past few months. The support of our community has been essential and so appreciated. This has made us all realize how much local businesses need our support and how that support translates into many benefits for our communities.
