Xplornet Broadens Broadband Expansion To Rural Ontario
WOODSTOCK–A New Brunswick-based internet service provider is expanding its high-speed services to Ontario.
Xplornet Communications Inc. has announced its plans to bring fiber-to-the-home Internet to 200,000 homes and businesses in rural Ontario.
This expansion is on top of Xplornet’s ongoing fibre-to-the-home-Internet expansion projects in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Manitoba, and Alberta.
It’s also part of Woodstock-based ISP’s plan to spend $500 million to bring scalable 5G fixed wireless Internet to rural Canadians.
Xplornet CEO and president Allison Lenehan said in a November 24 news release there’s a growing demand for more speed and data. Xplornet aims to bring “unprecedented” internet speeds to rural Ontario by deploying next-gen network technologies.
“Rural Canadians want the latest technology to deliver their broadband service,” she said.
Xplornet plans to provide services that include unlimited data plans and better connectivity for rural residents.
The release notes the fiber-to-the-home network is part of a plan to invest $500 million by 2025 to install scalable fibre and 5G wireless Internet in its network.
Xplornet provides fixed and mobile rural Internet through a combination of fibre, wireless, and satellite network services.
