Halifax Rents High But Still Far Below’s Canada’s Most Expensive Cities
HALIFAX – The city has the 12th highest average rent in the country for a two-bedroom apartment, according to a recent report from Bullpen Research and Consulting that looked at prices across Canada.
The average rent for a two-bedroom apartment in Halifax is $2,041. A one-bedroom apartment isn’t much better, with an average rent of $1,574.
Overall, rents are over $160 a month more than in 2020.
Ben Myers, president of Bullpen Research & Consulting, said this isn’t the situation could continue to get worse.
“With employment returning to pre-pandemic levels and immigration picking up, expect rental rates to continue to slowly climb over the next 18 months,” he said.
Vancouver topped the list, at $2,155 for a one-bedroom and $2,932 for a two-bedroom, and Toronto came second, $1,938 for a one-bedroom and $2,628 for a two-bedroom.
