How To Find A Job – Or A New Employee – Using Animated Videos
Aztrategy Consulting Inc. is bridging a gap for both employers and potential employees, helping people looking for a job, and employers looking for talent build their brand – through cartoons and motion graphics.
Specializing in turning resumes and information on job postings into eye-catching, to-the-point animated videos, CEO Leandro Oviedo said Aztrategy’s goal is to differentiate each job posting or resume from the competition with the power of storytelling.
“We think there’s a disconnect between job seekers and employers and part of that is the way they communicate,” said Oviedo. “On one side you have a large number of job seekers and you have recruiters saying they’re concerned about a lack of talent – so something is missing here.”
With job seekers struggling to explain how they can add value to a company and employers trying to find a way to make job openings more attractive, Oviedo said Saint John-based Aztrategy fits by helping both, using animation to convey in a short format what many resumes, and job descriptions on their own, can’t.
Oviedo said long, extensive job descriptions can be tedious, and a waste, with large companies putting resources into HR staff, external recruiters and career websites, noting that many employers – and job seekers – lack a compelling narrative to cut through the noise.
Aztrategy’s animated videos, up to two minutes long, illustrate the most relevant aspects of a job – or job seeker’s resume –providing a clearer understanding of what an employer or employee can expect in an engaging format.
“We want to help job seekers stand out from the crowd and help them be noticed by recruiters and hiring managers,” said Oviedo.
“At the same time, we are looking at the other side of the equation, which is the employers who want to attract more candidates and better-qualified talent.”
With Aztrategy, employers can promote specific jobs, groups of jobs – or, if they prefer, promote themselves with a general overview of company culture, depending on how many people they want to hire.
Aztrategy’s six-person staff consists of senior business, HR & recruitment, and graphic design professionals who gather crucial information and turn it into an animated video tailored to each client’s specific needs.
Aztrategy can work with clients anywhere in North America since the process is 100 percent online. Each animation is custom-made to the needs of the individual customer – staff takes care not to use templates or automate any of the processes.
Every animation begins with a “discovery call,” to find the main objectives and challenges. A script is drafted up, using storytelling techniques to give it a good “flow,” that engages its intended audience.
In regular consultation with the customer, Aztrategy’s staff then storyboards out animation and creates a polished product with voiceovers, running it through strict quality control. The finished product is then uploaded to a cloud for future use.
Oviedo found inspiration to launch Aztrategy in his desire to create a unique animated resume – and finding nothing to help him.
I created my own animated resume and it was at that point I realized there are more people like me who want to find a way to stand out from the crowd.”
Oviedo has also seen studies that inspired him – like a Glassdoor survey of large employers in which 63 percent of recruiters cited lack of talent as a main concern, sifting through piles of resumes, and facing stiff competition from other employers.
What originally started as a small part-time business consultancy grew to today’s team.
Combined with a bid to help job seekers struggling to explain their talents in a resume format, Oviedo said he wanted to find something to resonate with employers, generate interest and leads, noting that the best talent seeks out companies that have the best company culture.
We’re looking to grab the attention of more candidates and engage better-qualified candidates – those who are looking for something different.”
“There are only so many things you can explain in a resume or cover letter. Resumes have a standard format, you list your skills, work experience and accomplishments. These are words on paper, which animation makes come alive.”
Oviedo said Aztrategy positions employers and employees to get recognized by better telling that story.
“There’s such a big turbulence in the market on both sides, with new jobs being created and many people thinking of switching careers or finding more flexible jobs,” said Oviedo.
Aztrategy’s service couldn’t have come at a better time, with the economy recovering from the pandemic’s ravages and many people reconsidering what they want in a job.
