Saint John Chamber Launches ‘Lift Up Local’ Campaign
SAINT JOHN – If we don’t support local businesses, we could lose them. That’s the idea behind a new campaign from the Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce called Lift Up Local.
CEO David Duplisea said they secured funding from the Atlantic Chamber and the federal government to support existing events.
“So it’s a ‘use it or lose it’ type of thing designed to lift up the whole region. Retail, restaurants, all types of businesses and services. Think twice before you click on the Amazon purchase. See if you can find it locally,” Duplisea said
Duplisea said the funding will support established events like the KV Music Festival and the Queen Square Farmers Market.
“We wanted to add runway and jet fuel to these initiatives to help them rather than start brand new ones that really just kind of dilute everything. We have a habit of that sometimes in Saint John. If someone does something that’s successful, everyone tries to replicate it and then it dilutes everything,” said Duplisea.
Window decals will be available for anyone who wants to show support.
