PAL Airlines Now Offering Flights At Fredericton Airport
FREDERICTON — Travellers from the Fredericton International Airport can now book direct flights to Newfoundland and Labrador through St. John’s-based PAL Airlines starting June 28.
A release from the airport authority says a direct flight to that province has been in high demand from local travellers. As Covid-19 travel restrictions slowly begin to loosen, it says the airline’s route is “more important than ever.”
“This flight will reunite families, facilitate business between our provinces, and make it easier for Atlantic Canadians to take advantage of travel opportunities as our provinces re-open,” said airport President and CEO Johanne Gallant, in a news release.
The route operates on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, flying from Fredericton to Deer Lake and then to St. John’s. PAL also plans to begin flying from Fredericton to Ottawa, and from Fredericton to Halifax starting on July 30.
City of Fredericton Mayor Kate Rogers attended a ribbon-cutting at the airport on Monday morning. She believes the new flights are important for Fredericton families, businesses and visitors, and she’s excited to see its support for economic efforts for the region.
“On behalf of the City of Fredericton, I am excited to welcome PAL Airlines to our community and the newly renovated and expanded Fredericton International Airport,” said Rogers. “I thank PAL Airlines for the confidence they are showing in our community.”
Over the weekend, WestJet resumed its flights in and out of the airport. Air Canada also returned on June 28 with its service to Montreal and will bring flights to Toronto back on July 1.
Sunwing returns to YFC in February 2022 and will fly to destinations including Mexico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic.
