Down East Coffee Celebrating 25 Years Of Roasting Extraordinary Coffees

Since 1996, Down East Coffee has been offering a wide selection of refined coffees for discerning palates.

In the quiet setting of the rural community of Notre-Dame, New Brunswick, we roast in the warmth of a traditional pièce-sur-pièce cedar log building with an in-house espresso bar and retail outlet.

There, you will find freshly roasted coffees, assorted premium teas, dark chocolate covered beans, syrups, and brewed coffees to go. And in 2010, a second roasting house was opened in a landmark building at the corner of St. George Blvd and Mount Royal Blvd in Moncton.

Down East Coffee is dedicated to the careful roasting and blending of estate, organic, fair trade and other extraordinary coffees for wholesale, retail, private labelling, on-line shopping across Canada and fundraising.

Down East Coffee beans are roasted in small batches and meticulously monitored during the highly sensitive roasting ritual.  This ensures absolute freshness and makes the difference between ‘good coffee’ and coffee that reaches extraordinary heights in flavour.  From the curious to the connoisseur, all can taste and feel the passion that goes into making every bean deliver its full potential.

So, what’s behind the irresistible lure of Down East Coffee? It starts with an impeccable selection of only the finest varieties of estate and small farm-grown, Swiss Water Decaffeinated and origin Arabica beans from around the world. Their uniqueness and abundant potential taste are carefully unleashed through scrupulous roasting and blending techniques.

There are about 1,000 identified flavour constituents in a cup of coffee. Roasting a fine coffee and preparing a perfect blend is an art and a science. The Down East Coffee roastmaster, who is also a chef, can provide a full range of popular and exotic roasts and blends.

Blending is one of our great pleasures. It takes skill, experience, and the artful balancing of coffee characteristics to make blends that are greater than the sum of their extraordinary parts.

Blends created by our roastmaster range from light and delicate to deep and rich with character to please even the most discerning palate and to suit your every mood. Many of our blends came about in collaboration with the “Centre d’étude acadiennes – Université de Moncton”, having been created and named to honour Atlantic traditions and history.

Committed to being on point of the latest trends, Down East Coffee™ was timely in featuring cold brew coffee in the Maritimes.  After research and testing, the exact taste profile sought was achieved and Coastal Cold Brew™ was introduced.
