Gerald Hynes, Prominent Moncton Restaurant Founder, Dies At 91
MONCTON – Hynes Restaurant was closed Tuesday out of respect for its founder. Gerald “Buddy” Hynes died on Saturday at age 91 after a battle with cancer.
Buddy was the second generation of his family in the restaurant business.
Hynes Restaurant has been a Mountain Road institution in Moncton since the late 1950s.
According to his obituary, his passions were boxing and golf and he was a huge fan of the Montreal Canadiens.
Buddy enjoyed greeting customers at the door in his later years.
Frenette’s Funeral Home is handling the arrangements and a private funeral service will be held at a later date due to the pandemic.
