NB365: Melissa Ellis Of Out Of The Closet Boutique
This is part of a year-long ‘Love for Local’ series called NB365: portraits of New Brunswick entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations. Huddle is a media partner with Love for Local. Today, we feature Melissa Ellis of Out Of The Closet Boutique in Bathurst.
The need is what made me go into business, really. Out Of The Closet started small, in the basement of my home, posting on social media only with pick-ups once a week. It didn’t take long for me to realize that this idea could grow and become more than a “side gig.”
I still hold true to my values of when it first started in 2018: Quality of the items, positive impact on the environment and greater bang for your buck. I wish I could scream from the rooftops on how important it is for our economy to purchase locally. And not just purchase local, actually support local. Share posts on social media from the businesses you love, places you had amazing service, start-up businesses that can use the extra “heave-ho.”
Out Of The Closet prides itself on supporting and encouraging small, medium and large local businesses, and I believe that it is the reason we have such a strong social media presence both online and on our social media platforms. In October 2020 we launched our online boutique, with Canada Wide shipping available.
Out Of The Closet is going to continue with this momentum with a few more surprises up our sleeve…one I’ll share with you now, Live Presentations showcasing our “Favs of the Week.” It may not seem like much, but we get our faces out there and our name.
