OTTAWA – The federal government has announced new travel measures that are meant to stop the spread of COVID-19.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says all of the country’s main airlines will suspend service to Mexico and Caribbean destinations starting Sunday and going until April 30th.
Trudeau also notes that non-essential travelers will also have to show a negative COVID-19 test before coming into Canada from any United States land border.
Other New Measures
- All Canadian travelers returning from overseas will have to take a COVID-19 PCR test at the airport, and quarantine in a designated hotel for three days at their own expense while they await results
- If your result comes back negative you can isolate at home, but if it’s positive you’ll need to quarantine in a designated government facility
- All international passenger flights must land at the Calgary, Vancouver, Montreal or Toronto airports
