Porter Airlines To Resume Flights in March
HALIFAX – Porter Airlines plan to resume flights in 2021, more than a year after it ceased operations. The airline said the tentative date to resume operations is March 29, but with no firm commitment to return to the Maritimes.
“With the introduction of vaccines, we are more optimistic about determining a date in the near-term to reintroduce flights than at any point since the pandemic began,” said Michael Deluce, president and CEO of Porter Airlines, in a press release. “More time is needed to assess the vaccine’s influence on current travel restrictions and when it is appropriate to begin operations again. We expect to establish a timeline for this to happen in the first part of 2021.”
Before the pandemic grounded Porter’s flights in March of 2020, the airline operated in four Maritime cities: Halifax, Saint John, Fredericton. And Moncton.
Huddle reached out to a Porter Airlines spokesperson to ask if all four cities would be serviced by the company again, once they continue operations. The spokesperson said it’s too early to say which routes will be included.
“We are monitoring COVID-19 updates to determine a modified flight schedule for restarting service,” said the spokesperson. “The schedule will be updated prior to flights beginning.”
