Energy Efficient Co-Working Space Opens In Fredericton
FREDERICTON – A new co-working space is opening at 82 Westmorland Street, in one of Fredericton’s most eco-friendly buildings.
Naveco Power, whose offices are a part of the building, recently completed a retrofit of the space which consisted of LED lighting to replicate natural light and the installation of a new air system to provide clean air throughout the building.
“We had some openings in our building and we just finished completing an energy-efficient retrofit so we thought it would be a great opportunity to open it up for co-working,” said Sarah Arsenault, Marketing and Communications Manager for Naveco Power.
Arsenault is also assisting with marketing for the new co-working space in the building, which is owned by ABBA Ventures, Inc.
Even through Fredericton’s orange phase of recovery, the co-working space remains available with social distancing measures in place along with a HEPA filter as part of the building’s HVAC system.
“Between the HEPA filters and the high air exchange rate in the building, we’re making sure that the air is replaced often. Individuals or small teams can work in comfort knowing the air is HEPA filtered to reduce the spread of allergens and COVID,” said Amit Virmani, CEO of Naveco Power.
In 2021, the building is expected to implement solar panels to make the building even more energy efficient. This will also make the building the largest privately-owned rooftop solar array in New Brunswick.
The space includes dedicated desks as well as private office options. A membership includes access to WiFi, kitchen amenities, free coffee, and access to meeting rooms. The space is open and ready for leasing now.
“I think it provides a safe space to work outside of your home,” said Arsenault. “I know people are getting a little stir crazy at home so this place is safe, all the desks are the correct amount of space apart from each other, so it gives a change of scenery in a COVID-safe environment.”
