N.B. Announces 14 New Covid-19 Cases Sunday
FREDERICTON – Public Health reported 14 new cases of Covid-19 in New Brunswick Sunday. Nine of the new cases are in the Saint John region, including six cases revealed by the Shannex care home late Saturday.
Four of the cases involve residents, and two are staff members. There have now been 15 infections at the assisted living facility, including 10 residents and five workers.
According to a press release, residents that test positive at Parkland are brought to a ‘cohorting area’ in Tucker Hall to self-isolate until they no longer have the virus.
Four more cases were discovered in the Moncton health zone, and the other case was discovered in the Bathurst region.
The four cases in Zone 1 (Moncton region) include one person under 19, one 20-29; and two people 40-49.
The nine cases in Zone 2 (Saint John region) include three people under 19, one 30-39,
one 50-59, two 80-89, and two 90 and over.
These cases are self-isolating and under investigation.
The other case is an individual 30-39 in Zone 6 (Bathurst region) which is travel-related and is self-isolating.”
The Saint John, Moncton, and Fredericton zones remain in the orange phase of Covid-19 recovery.
There are now 119 active cases province-wide, the highest total since the pandemic began. No Covid-19 patients are currently hospitalized with the virus.
