Sobeys Launches Curbside Pickup At Three Nova Scotia Stores
HALIFAX — Sobeys has taken its first steps onto the curbside pickup path with the launch of its new Voila service.
The Atlantic Canadian grocery chain announced yesterday it has made curbside pickup available at three of its Nova Scotia stores.
Sobeys customers can now shop for their groceries online or via mobile app and collect their orders at select Sobeys stores in Halifax, Dartmouth, and New Glasgow.
The new service is powered by Ocada Group’s in-store fulfillment technology and works similarly to other curbside pickup services.
After ordering online or through an app, customers can choose a pickup time within a set one-hour window. Sobeys also has cleaning and social distancing policies in place related to the service.
Sobeys says it plans to expand the Voila service beyond its three initial stores to locations across Canada “over the next few years.”
Loblaws, which owns the Atlantic Superstores in the region, first introduced its click-and-collect service in 2014.
The service was first introduced to Atlantic Superstore locations in Halifax in 2018 and its usage has surged during the Covid-19 pandemic.
