New Brunswickers Flocking To Magnetic Hill Wharf Village
MONCTON- It is year three under new ownership for the Magnetic Hill Wharf Village, but it isn’t like any other year in the past.
Owner Jenna Cann says they opened over a month later than usual due to COVID-19, but things have been going well so far.
Even with the Atlantic bubble, Cann says there hasn’t been a lot of out of province plates just yet.
“It’s a very unique year on its own. It is going pretty well. We are very thankful for the local market. We are definitely seeing a lot more local customers than tourists at the moment,” says Cann. “We haven’t seen quite as many Islanders, Nova Scotians or Newfoundlanders just yet, but definitely a lot of new Brunswickers at the moment.”
Cann says it’s at an almost full opening this year at the Wharf Village, which includes their restaurant, ice cream shop and three of the six gift shops.
She says they have worked hard to ensure their guests are comfortable during COVID-19, adjusting as things go.
One of the things they’ve introduced this year, is live music three times a week, featuring local musicians.
Cann says it’s wonderful to see a lot of local returnees that they know.
“A lot of regulars,” she says. “Travellers, people coming from just outside of Moncton, Fredericton or Saint John who are taking day trips, that sort of thing.”
When COVID-19 first started, Cann says back in March, they weren’t optimistic that they were going to be able to open at all.
“It was touch and go for a little while there. They were in discussions with Public Health, but they were thrilled to hear that they were able to open.”
