Saint John Business Associations Launch Support Local Campaign
SAINT JOHN – A buy local campaign is reminding residents that businesses are open and eager for customers.
David Duplisea, CEO of the Saint John Region Chamber of Commerce, said the #TakeAwayWednesday campaign was launched with Uptown Saint John in collaboration with the regional municipalities.
“All of the regional businesses are having challenges, we know that there’s distancing challenges and things like that, so it’s just a special reminder for people to once a week at least, to call and order takeout, either a product or a service,” he said.
Duplisea said many of the businesses in the region have new delivery and takeout models set up to operate during the pandemic.
“This is just another example of the agencies and the associations in the Saint John Region all collectively getting together and trying to help the region’s business,” he said.
Duplisea said he’d like the campaign to become a permanent type of thing but it may have an organic lifetime to it.
“We’ve had a number of businesses say this is great, do you have a sticker or something that we can put up on our website,” he said.
Duplisea said because of that, they’re exploring decals to see if that’s an option or maybe an electronic digital sticker.
“I think you’ll see a lot more businesses uptake on it and hopefully we can generate a little excitement and some businesses for these people.”
