New Brunswick’s ‘Yellow’ Phase Of Recovery Officially Underway
FREDERICTON – Phase Three – or the “yellow” phase – of New Brunswick’s Covid-19 recovery plan is officially underway.
In a press conference Friday morning, Premier Blaine Higgs says the yellow phase starts immediately, but it will be implemented in stages.
New Brunswickers will now be able to extend their two household bubbles, but they are being asked to limit indoor gatherings to no more than 10 people.
“You can now spend time with close friends and family members who you would normally see on a regular basis,” said Higgs.
Non-regulated health service providers including acupuncturists, naturopaths, and personal services businesses such as barbers, hairstylists, tattoo artists and estheticians can now reopen.
“Not all of us are able to do our own hair,” joked the premier.
“These businesses need to respect physical distancing measures except when clients are receiving services.”
On May 29, additional restrictions will be lifted, including the availability of more elective surgeries.
Low contact sports will also be able to be played, but organizations must have an operational plan that abides by the rules laid out by Public Health and the Government of New Brunswick. For youth sports, the number of spectators must be limited to one parent per child and viewing must ensure physical distancing.
Other facilities that will also be able to open include, Swimming pools, saunas, water parks, rinks and bowling alleys, but they must also ensure regulations are being followed.
On June 19, overnight camps will also be permitted to open.
Premier Higgs says the province will also now be allowing temporary foreign workers to enter the province, starting on May 29.
