Halifax Call Centre Employee Tests Positive For COVID-19
HALIFAX – An employee at a Scotiabank call centre in Halifax has tested positive, according to a company spokesperson. Other workers who came in contact with the employee have been sent home with pay and told to self-isolate for 14 days.
The bank was made aware of the positive COVID-19 case on April 22. That same night, the company did a deep clean of the building.
“Our top priority is the health and safety of our employees. We were made aware that one of our employees at our Customer Contact Centre in Halifax tested positive for COVID-19,” reads a statement from Scotiabank.
“Following the confirmation, our Occupational Health & Safety team, working under the guidance of public health officials and the bank’s medical advisor, took immediate action including an overnight electrostatic deep cleaning of the entire premises.”
Scotiabank also says the call centre had been reconfigured to meet social distancing requirements. The building is sanitized more frequently, and they have medical personnel onsite to help employees.
