Saint John Council Helps Three Development Projects Move Forward
SAINT JOHN – Common council approved changes to a $17-million development in Millidgeville on Monday night.
13 residents spoke against the project at 819 Millidge Avenue in Saint John during the meeting on February 10 but it did move forward passing first and second reading.
Since that meeting staff met with the applicant, Charlie Bird, on issues concerning the design phase including access on Daniel Drive and the location of solid waste facilities.
Commissioner of Growth and Community Development Jacqueline Hamilton said Bird provided a letter for council agreeing with the changes.
He also committed to a communications plan for this project.
“[This] includes a project website and additional engagement with the neighbourhood as the project moves toward the construction phase,” Hamilton said.
Council also cleared the way for work to proceed at the Fundy Quay site and for development to continue on another housing project at the site of the former Gothic Arches.
