Many Canadians Would Like A Holiday Bonus, But Don’t Get One
Does the company you work for reward you during the holiday season for your hard work? Or are you like Clark Griswold waiting in vain for the cheque to arrive on Christmas Eve?
A new study from ADP Canada explored how working Canadians would like to be rewarded over the holiday season.
When employees were asked what they would like their employer to offer over the holidays, 54 percent said they would like a bonus — but only 15 percent of employed Canadians expected to receive one this year.
The study also found the most common reward was usually a holiday party, followed by a gift or additional time off. Eleven percent didn’t want any holiday reward at all.
In Atlantic Canada, the ADP Canada study found 23 percent of employees were likely to get a financial bonus versus 15 percent nationally. But 63 percent would prefer to get one over anything else.
Charitable donations and activities ranked at the bottom with only seven percent of Canadian employers planning to participate in a charitable activity for the holidays.
Only eight percent of employees were interested in giving to a charity as a company.
